Passengers Departing Procedure

1.Refer to the Flight Information Display Screens for your airline’s check-in row information when arrive at the airport.

2.Approach the check-in counter with your travel documents (valid passport (not less than 6 months), air ticket or booking confirmation, and visa if applicable).

3.Check that you are issued with the correct boarding passes and that your travel documents are in order before leaving the check-in counter.

4.Enter the Departure Hall.

Online check-in
Depending on your airline, you may be able to check-in online up to 48 hours before your flight.

Early check-in
Check-in counters open at least 2 hours before flight departure, but some airlines might let you check in early.

Group check-in
If you are travelling in a group of 10 or more? Your airline may have a special check-in counter at their designated check-in rows.

Check-in counter
Check-in counters open at least 2 hours before departure time. Get ready your valid travel documents – passport, air ticket or booking confirmation and visa (if applicable).

Restricted/Prohibited Items

All passengers are advised to observe the list of prohibited items which will be confiscated and not returnable if discovered in your cabin/hand luggage:

  • ALL types of pistols, shot guns, rifles, air guns, imitation / toy pistols and other items which are defined as firearms in the Arms Act 1960.
  • ALL types of knives, kris, choppers and other cutting utensils, such as scissors, spears, tridents, blowpipes, darts, chisels, saws, arrows, sickles, swords and other sharp objects.
  • ALL types of ammunitions, fire crackers and explosive items.
  • ALL types of clubs, golf / hockey sticks and walking sticks (except for blind and physically weak passengers).
  • Any sharp objects with a point or blade such as cutters, razor blades, household cutleries or hiking poles.
  • Please note that some personal protection devices such as cans of mace, although legal in some countries, are regarded as offensive weapons in Malaysia and are prohibited.

Medications, baby milk/foods, and special dietary requirements could be permitted in cabin baggage if needed on board. For further enquiries or information, please contact your respective airlines.

Malaysian Quarantine Inspection Services (MAQIS) requirement

MAQIS will quarantine and inspect any plant, animal, carcass, fish, agricultural produce, soil, microorganism, premise, transporter or any other items at the point of entry, quarantine station and quarantine premise for the purpose of determining whether pests, diseases and contaminants exist and ensuring compliance with the import and export conditions as stated on the permits, licences or certificates issued under the MAQIS Act 2011.

Any plant, animal, carcass, fish, agricultural produce, soil, microorganism, premise, transporter or any other items placed under quarantine control or quarantine premise for a set period determined by the Director General of Quarantine and Inspection.

National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (NPCB) requirement

  • To implement the drug registration / cosmetic notification scheme through evaluation of technical data, laboratory analysis, research and information received from international agencies.
  • To carry out analytical, pharmaceutical, microbiological and pharmacological tests on drugs and cosmetics to determine quality, efficacy and safety of such products.
  • To implement the regulatory scheme on quality of pharmaceutical products in the market through random sampling and carrying out analytical tests.
  • To implement the licensing scheme for pharmaceutical manufacturers, importers and wholesalers including a licensing scheme for clinical trial.
  • To manage the Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Program and participate in the WHO International Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Program.
